Caritas Social Innovation and Social Enterprise Hub

©Eddy Klaus

Caritas Westminster is opening a Hub that will incubate and accelerate a range of new and potentially innovative social businesses and social enterprises.

The Hub will be open to all those with a social enterprise idea and at the same time will intentionally provide support, training and employment pathways for disadvantaged people normally excluded from opportunities to develop an enterprise idea or to enter the labour market.

There is clear mission alignment between Caritas Westminster and the development of a social enterprise strategy as an additional activity that reduces poverty and disadvantage

What are the key elements of the Hub?

  • A community coworking space supported by business mentors and training
  • A social enterprise incubator and accelerator
  • Workshop space to develop and test enterprise options
  • A social innovation thought centre

What is our mission?

To provide dignified pathways into work for marginalized people so they can take their place in society

  • To provide inspiration and leadership to all our networks and supply chains to consider how best to support a social enterprise approach to business

Do you know what a Social Enterprise is?

A social enterprise is a business that trades for a social purpose. Social enterprises are organisations that:

  • Are led by an economic, social, cultural, or environmental mission consistent with public or community benefit;
  • Trade to fulfil their mission
  • Derive a substantial portion of their income from trade;
  • Reinvest the majority of their profit/surplus in the fulfilment of their mission

More is yet to come, stay tuned!
