John Coleby | Director | Caritas Westminster
As Director of Caritas Westminster, John oversees the growth and development this exciting new social action agency. He creates links with parishes and organisations across the diocese and has established Caritas Bakhita House as a central part of the Church’s response to human trafficking. John has a background in social care, and has held senior level management positions including Director of Caritas St Joseph’s and CEO of SweetTree Home Care Services. John holds an MA in Social Work from the University of Leicester and an MA in Biblical Studies from Heythrop College.
Andrzej Wdowiak | Assistant Director | Caritas Westminster
In his role as Assistant Director, Andrzej is responsible for the Development Team, which includes Caritas Hubs and the Social Action Map. This team offers social action support to parishes in the Diocese of Westminster. Previously, Andrzej was responsible for overseeing the setting up of Caritas Bakhita House, which works with victims of human trafficking and modern slavery. Andrzej read Theology at the Catholic University of Leuven and holds an MSc in Voluntary Sector Studies from LSE. He has worked extensively within the charity sector both in the UK and overseas.
Verity Sykes | Volunteer Coordinator | Adminstrator/PA to the Director | Caritas Westminster
Motivated by her passion for social justice, Verity joined the Caritas team in June 2016. Verity has previously worked in the third sector and in Children's and Youth work. In her current role, Verity is working on the development of the Caritas Volunteer Service, to promote volunteering across the diocese, as well as supporting the work of the Director and Caritas team. Verity studied Psychology at the University of Southampton.
Mary Gandy | Administrator | St John's Southworth Caritas Fund
Mary is the Administrator for the St John Southworth Caritas Fund and Caritas Westminster grants.These grants are available to fund local social action initiatives and to assist individuals in severe need or crisis.Mary has been the Administrator of what was formerly known as St John Southworth Fund since its inception in 2007. She has a background in church-related organisations with a focus on social care.
Martha Behan | Communications | Caritas Westminster
Martha is our communications officer. Alongside running all of our social media accounts, she writes for the website, takes photos at events and manages press relations for the team. She was previously a communications intern for the Diocese of Westminster as part of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales Faith in Politics internships. She has a BA in Culture Literature and Politics from the University of East Anglia. In her spare time Martha coodinates the St Dymphna Day mental health campaign and is part of the CBCEW mental health refererence group. She enjoys baking, knitting and cycling.
